The Old Roundhouse Trail Days 5k Run/Walk (also known as Elma 5k) began in 2007. As part of the annual city-wide celebration, the Old Roundhouse Trail Days 5k Run/Walk was created. The mission of the event is to:
-Bring attention to the Old Roundhouse Trail section of the Wapsi Great Western Line recreation trail.
-Raise funds for the completion of the trail.
-Raise funds for the renovation of the trailhead (depot) and museum (one-room school house) projects as well as their ongoing upkeep.
-Have a family-friendly event in which families and all-generations can participate.
The Run/Walk is for everyone. There are serious runners and casual walkers who participate. There have been finishers as young as 6 years old up to 80 years young.
