He even said a time or two “Running is terrible… but I like the stopping”. Jim’s symptoms began in his 40’s with what appeared to be ‘Parkinson’s-like’. These symptoms progressed and he was diagnosed with HD in 2001\, at the age of 59. Eventually Huntington’s disease began changing the way Jim lived his life. The progression of his symptoms may have taken away his ability to do the activities he once loved but it has not changed his fun-loving spirit! His daughter\, Michelle\, at the age of 27\, also made the choice to be genetically tested (because there is a 50/50 chance of inheriting this disease) and was informed that she was also gene positive. This is when she decided to\, like her dad\, get moving! Michelle says “Dad can’t run anymore but I can.” So we are doing this to remind her\, him and everyone effected by this disease that we love and support them.
