DESCRIPTION:View Results in Full Screen Mode\n  \nThe Old Roundhouse Trail Days 5k Run/Walk (also known as Elma 5k) began in 2007.  As part of the annual city-wide celebration\, the Old Roundhouse Trail Days 5k Run/Walk was created.  The mission of the event is to: \n    -Bring attention to the Old Roundhouse Trail section of the Wapsi Great Western Line recreation trail.\n    -Raise funds for the completion of the trail.\n    -Raise funds for the renovation of the trailhead (depot) and museum (one-room school house) projects as well as their ongoing upkeep.\n    -Have a family-friendly event in which families and all-generations can participate. \nThe Run/Walk is for everyone.  There are serious runners and casual walkers who participate.  There have been finishers as young as 6 years old up to 80 years young.

DESCRIPTION:View Results in Full Screen Mode\n  \nStarting in 2018\, RipRoar’s Youth triathlon Series are produced on behalf of The Youth Tribe\, a Des Moines based non-profit focused on continuing the tradition of triathlon for the next generation. While the RipRoar Series looks similar to the world-class races of the past the effort required to keep triathlon going for future years will look much different.  \nThe Youth Tribe is run by an all volunteer board of directors and is funded through local fundraisers\, donors\, corporate partners and (hopefully) grants. In 2019 The Youth Tribe has set a fundraising goal of $35\,000 to cover the cost of in-school educational programing\, first-time athlete training programs\, Mentor scholarships and support of youth triathlons across the Midwest including the Ankeny Kids Triathlon\, The Flatlands Cup and The RipRoar Youth Triathlon Series.
