SUMMARY:Dam to Downtown 10k 2015
DESCRIPTION:The point-to-point race traces a scenic\, USATF Certified 10 kilometer route from the Coralville Dam to College Green Park in Iowa City. Buses are available to transport runners from College Green Park to the start of the race\, and a post-race party and award ceremony await runners at the finish. All proceeds from the race go to fund scholarships for high school students in the Iowa City area. DESCRIPTION:The last five years of the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa’s Run\, Walk\, & Roll 5k and Fun Run have been a great success! Thank you to all of our runners\, walkers\, and teams! This year we want to build off of last years success\, and exceed 300 runners and raise over $10\,000!! When: Saturday April 18\, 2015 Time: Registration opens at 9:00 am. 5k begins at 11:00am\, with the Fun Run to follow. Where: Terry Trueblood Recreation Area Park\, 4213 SE Sand Rd. Iowa City\, Iowa There will a large amount of parking available\, however\, it will be on a first come first serve basis. Follow the signs when entering the park to locate available spots. What: Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa (BIA-IA) is a non-profit organization which provides information and resources to individuals across the state of Iowa. BIA-IA promotes brain injury research and prevention as well as providing education to all. The Run\, Walk\, & Roll is an annual fundraiser which benefits the Iowa citizens who have been affected by brain injuries. Thank you to everyone who have made the event a success the last five years! DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, April 11\, 2015 at our forth annual Hy-Vee Half and 5K Walk/Run for JDRF in the Fort Dodge Hy-Vee’s effort to bring awareness and raise money for JDRF. Bring your friends and family down to join in the fight against juvenile diabetes. With an event for every age\, the entire family is sure to have a great time! JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) is the worldwide leader for research to cure type 1 diabetes (T1D). It sets the global agenda for diabetes research\, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. T1D is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly\, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found\, people with T1D have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump–each day\, every day of their lives. And even with that intensive care\, insulin is not a cure for diabetes\, nor does it prevent its potential complications\, which may include kidney failure\, blindness\, heart disease\, stroke\, and amputation. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with T1D\, JDRF has awarded more than $1.5 billion to diabetes research\, including $107 million last year.
